Cancellation FAQs

Why was conference canceled?

The decision to call off conference in 2021 was not made lightly. The committee took into consideration public health orders and restrictions related to COVID-19, in place and issued by Public Health Madison & Dane County, as well as other states’ travel restrictions and lack of facilities to house conference.

Will there be some type of virtual conference?

While the committee considered this option, it was decided that the experience and associated connections and opportunities could not be replicated by a virtual experience. Instead, we look forward to returning to our standard of excellence in 2022.

Can 4-H members that planned to attend conference in 2021 attend in 2022 instead?

Yes, registration will be open to 4-H members in the same manner that it is each year. Provided a youth has the approval of their state 4-H program and has not exceeded the age limit of 18 years old or younger on January 1, 2022, they will be eligible to attend conference in 2022. While those are the national requirements for attending, individuals should check with their respective state programs to verify their eligibility and capability of attending next year.

Will conference return in 2022?

Yes. Provided health and safety standards allow, the committee fully intends to hold the National 4-H Dairy Conference in 2022.

Has National 4-H Dairy Conference ever been cancelled before?

This is the first time conference has been canceled in its 67 year history.
